Stocks in the news: SBI, Voda Idea, RIL, Info Edge, PVR and Emami

Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange traded 413 points, or 2.55 per cent lower at 15,830.50, signaling that Dalal Street was headed for a negative start on Monday. Here are a dozen stocks which may buzz the most in today's trade:



Coal India: A subsidiary of the maharatna public sector undertaking BCCL has posted a record 61 per cent growth in its production to 3.24 million tonne (mt) in February this year over the corresponding month last fiscal.

State Bank of India: The larger PSU lender has appointed former Ujjivan Small Finance Bank CEO Nitin Chugh as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) to drive digital banking operations. He has been appointed for an initial term of three years.

Reliance Industries: The Oil-to-telecom conglomerate announced the opening of India's largest convention centre at Jio World Centre in Mumbai. The convention centre has three exhibition halls spanning over an area of more than 1.61 lakh square feet and two convention halls of 1.07 lakh square feet.

NTPC: The state-owned power giant said it will start commercial operations of 74.88 megawatt capacity (MW) of its 296 MW Fatehgarh solar project in Rajasthan from midnight. With this, the commercial capacity of NTPC and NTPC Group will reach 54,452.18 MW and 67,907.18 MW respectively,

Vodafone Idea: The promoter of Teclo- Vodafone- plans to infuse up to Rs 3,375 crore into debt-ridden telecom operator as part of the company's proposed raising of funds worth Rs 14,200 crore. Besides Vodafone, Aditya Birla Group plans to pump in up to Rs 1,125 crore.

Info Edge: The IT company, which owns platforms such as Naukri.com and Jeevansathi, has acquired a 76 per cent stake in online dating company Aisle Network for Rs 91 crore. Aisle runs multiple dating platforms on the web and mobile apps- Aisle, Anbe, Arike and HeyDil.

Balkrishna Industries: The commercial tyre maker said it has successfully commenced commercial production of the brown field expansion and debottlenecking project at Bhuj plant ahead of schedule. This will result in increased production of tires up to 50,000 MTPA.

PVR: India's leading multiplex chain and the local unit of Mexican company Cinepolis are in advanced merger talks, potentially reshaping the country's film exhibition industry that witnessed its first phase of consolidation over the past decade and a half.

Emami: The home-grown FMCG company has acquired 19 per cent equity stake in TruNativ F&B Private, a nutrition company for an undisclosed amount. A statement issued by Emami said TruNativ is a nutrition focused food and bevarage company. under the 'Tru Nativ' brand.

Canara Bank: The state run lender said it has raised Rs 1,000 crore by issuing Basel-III compliant additional tier I bonds. The bonds carry coupon rate of 8.07 per cent per annum.

Hatsun Agro Product: The agri products and packaged food player said its board will meet on March 9 to consider a proposal to sell assets of the company's ready-to-eat business. The directors will meet to consider and approve the proposal for the sale of assets of the RTE (ready-to-eat) business and its brand 'Oyalo' to the prospective buyer.

BSE: The equity bourse announced its collaboration with the MSME Trade and Investment Promotion Bureau (M-TIPB), Government of Tamil Nadu, for promoting awareness among micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of the state about the benefits of listing.

PNB Housing Finance: The board of mortgage lender would take a call on raising capital, including through rights issue, next week after a failed attempt to garner Rs 4,000 crore by selling stake to Carlyle Group last year.

Nazara Technologies: The digital gaming and sports firm will acquire a 33 per cent stake in Datawrkz Business Solutions. The board of Nazara Technologies has approved investment of up to Rs 30 crore in its subsidiary Next Wave Multimedia.
